Plumbing questions, answered

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Don’t see yours? Call (818) 200-8719.

Are you open 24/7?

Yes. Call (818) 200-8719 any time, day or night, including weekends and holidays. For emergencies, we usually arrive within an hour.

Will I know the price before you start?

Yes. Your plumber finds the problem first and gives you a written price. Nothing starts until you say yes.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. TrueLine Plumbing, Inc. is a licensed and insured California plumbing contractor, CSLB license #1152373. You can verify it on the CSLB website.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. Our labor is covered by a 30-day warranty, and parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.

How do I book a plumber?

Call (818) 200-8719, or book online in two quick steps: tell us what needs fixing and pick a day. We call you back within 2 hours to set a time.

What areas do you serve?

Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. See all service areas, or call and we’ll tell you right away if we cover your address.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Both. We work in houses, condos, apartment buildings, restaurants, offices and retail spaces. See commercial plumbing.

How do I find my main water shutoff?

In most LA homes it’s near the front of the house, close to a hose bib, or in a box by the curb next to the water meter. Here’s a step-by-step guide.

How do I know if I have a hidden leak?

Turn off every faucet and appliance, then check your water meter. If the small leak indicator is still moving, water is escaping somewhere. See leak detection.

How long do water heaters last?

Most tank water heaters last about 8 to 12 years. Tankless heaters often last 20 years or more with yearly flushing. See water heater replacement.

Why do my drains keep clogging?

Usually grease, hair, soap buildup or tree roots in the sewer line, which is common in older LA homes. A camera inspection shows the real cause.

Why is my water pressure low?

If it’s one faucet, it’s usually a clogged aerator or cartridge. If it’s the whole house, it could be the pressure regulator, old galvanized pipes or a leak. See our water pressure guide.

How often should I have my plumbing checked?

Once a year is a good rule, and especially in homes more than 40 years old. A yearly check catches small leaks, corrosion and water heater problems before they become emergencies.

Do I need a permit for plumbing work?

Many jobs do, including water heater replacements, gas line work, repiping and sewer line replacement. Small repairs usually don’t. We’ll tell you up front if your job needs one. More in our permit guide.
