Tankless water heater installation and repair in Los Angeles

A tankless water heater heats water as you use it, so it doesn’t run out, and it hangs on the wall instead of taking up floor space. Installed and maintained well, it can last 20 years or more.

What needs fixing?

How tankless works

Instead of keeping 40 or 50 gallons hot around the clock, a tankless heater fires up when you open a hot faucet and heats water as it flows through. You stop paying to keep a tank hot all day, and the hot water keeps coming as long as you need it.

The catch is that gas tankless units need a lot of gas for short periods, and they need the right venting. Most bad installs come from skipping one of those two steps.

What a proper install involves

Tankless heaters need more than a swap. These are the steps most bad installs get wrong.

  • Gas line sizing. Gas tankless units need much more gas than a tank, so the line and sometimes the meter need upgrading.
  • Venting that matches the unit and meets code.
  • Water connections with service valves, so it can be flushed easily later.
  • Power. Most gas units still need an outlet nearby.

What affects the price

You get a written price before any work starts. These are the things that move it.

Gas line upgradesMany homes need a larger gas line for tankless.
VentingNew venting through a wall or the roof.
Unit sizeBigger homes need higher-capacity units.
LocationIndoor and outdoor models install differently.

Keep it running well

  • Flush and descale it about once a year.
  • Clean the inlet water filter screen.
  • Have repeat error codes checked instead of resetting them over and over.

Tankless water heaters questions

Will I need a bigger gas line?

Often, yes. We check your gas line size and meter before we quote, so there are no surprises on install day.

How often does a tankless heater need maintenance?

About once a year in most LA homes. Hard water leaves scale inside the heater, and flushing it out keeps it efficient.

Can a tankless heater run out of hot water?

It won’t run out, but it can only heat so much at once. If too many showers and appliances run together, the water can cool off. We size the unit for your home to avoid that.

Why does my tankless heater show an error code?

Often scale buildup, a clogged filter, a venting problem or an ignition issue. The code tells us where to start.

Is tankless worth it?

If you run out of hot water or plan to stay in your home for years, usually yes. If you’re selling soon or on a tight budget, a new tank can make more sense. Our comparison guide goes deeper.
