What needs fixing?

Everyday wear, quick fixes

Faucets have cartridges, washers and seals that wear out with use, and hard water speeds that up. A drip, a stiff handle or low pressure at one faucet is usually a worn part, not a bad faucet.

When a faucet is corroded or dated, replacing it is often the better value. It’s also the right time to swap the old shutoff valves under the sink.

Faucet & sink repair questions

Why does my faucet drip?

A worn cartridge, washer or O-ring inside the faucet. Replacing that part usually fixes it, unless the faucet body is corroded.

Why is there water in the cabinet under my sink?

Usually a loose drain connection, a worn supply line or a leak at the faucet base. Catching it early saves the cabinet floor.

Should I replace the shutoff valves under my sinks?

If they’re old multi-turn valves, yes. They often stick or leak right when you need them. Quarter-turn valves close in one move.

Why is my faucet pressure low?

If it’s just one faucet, the aerator or cartridge is usually clogged with mineral buildup. If it’s the whole house, see water pressure or repiping.
