Garbage disposal repair and installation in Los Angeles

A disposal that hums, leaks or won’t turn on is usually a quick fix. When it’s worn out, we install a new one and check the drain and dishwasher connections while we’re there.

What needs fixing?

Fix it or replace it

Jams, tripped resets and loose connections are common and quick to fix. A disposal that leaks from the bottom of the unit is different: the seal inside has failed, and replacing it is the better fix.

A new disposal sized for your kitchen grinds better and jams less. We also check the drain line behind it, since a slow line is often the real problem.

Garbage disposal repair questions

My disposal hums but doesn’t spin. What do I do?

Turn it off at the switch and never put your hand inside. Many units have a hex socket on the bottom that frees a jam with an Allen wrench. If that doesn’t work, call us.

What shouldn’t go down a disposal?

Grease, stringy foods like celery, potato peels, rice, pasta, bones and large amounts of coffee grounds. Here’s the full list.

My disposal leaks from the bottom. Can it be fixed?

Usually not. A leak from the bottom of the unit means an internal seal has failed, and replacing it is the better fix.
